Klaus Schulze - Irrlicht (I'd forgotten just how much I love love this debut of Klaus')

I'm glad. Did you hear it in "enhanced audio"? :P

Indeed! Looks like both Harmonia albums became officially available on Youtube two days ago, I already know what I'll listen to ;)

How could you not love those bone-chilling atmospheres? :D

Yesterday:
Umberto - Alienation
Equal Stones - Wretched Human Mirror
Kraftwerk - Computer World
Yes - Tormato

Yes I did
(Sadly the only thing that can relax the psycho muscles in my back. I did try a mix of aspirin and iboprofen for a couple of weeks. They did not help one bit other than making me feel sick and completely sucked dry of any joy. I threw the pills in the garbage and decided to smoke weed instead. It was a very smart decision if I do have to say so myself. I am able to sleep now without waking up in these painful cramps.) I must say that it was quite the chillax experience. The opener felt like these beatiful liquid metal surfaces interweaving like a flock of waterbirds. When the calm serene section then opens up it feels like going head down the waterfall in slowmotion.

Oh yeah! I saw you span both Harmonia albums yesterday. How did they fare?

I often overlook Irrlicht and reach for Cyborg instead. They share a similar sound signature. Like these collosal skyscrabers of organ sounds that reach far beyond our planetary borders. At first I didn't quite 'get it' mostly because I came from the much more melodic natured Body Love soundtrack. Then one day I played Cyborg with the lights off at a ridiculously loud volume and something happened. I think I described the heureka moment in my review as this incredible sensation of the pitch black room (the universe?) suddenly talking back to me.

^ Nah, it's all 70's stuff. Mostly classic rock. I'm planning on making a second volume soon with just jazz/fusion.

Never actually listened to Ozric Tentacles to be honest... I'll have to check them out. Thumbs Up

Although not Klaus Schulze, I queued up around 20 minutes worth of songs by Frankie Dymon Jr. and Franco Battiato (from Clic) just before sleep yesterday and listened to them in complete darkness. It felt like discovering a unpolluted, angelic new world that had been just behind me all the time, but one I had not noticed. Big smile Great experience. I should probably go to bed earlier and listen to the whole albums, wonder where I would get.

Yesterday:
Weidorje - Weidorje
Can - Ege Bamyasi (Heart)
Gong - You

You know what's good for you, just keep with it ;) Awesome!

They're fantastic, I don't know if it was because of your comment but I enjoyed Deluxe more than the debut this time.

That's how I listen to pretty much everything at home, except if I want to read the booklet, obviously :P

What do you think of Zanov's latest? I admit it didn't click for me yet.

Man, I've been loving to play that one :D

Just one this weekend:
Agitation Free - Malesch
...and another fantastic Sensible Soccers concert ;)

Cool Tymon! In fact I heartily recommend listening to music in non-mundane surroundings, which is why half of the stuff I listen to is over my Fiio. Tangerine Dream is beautiful sure but try listening to something like Hyperborea down by a natural spring and feel the music shapeshift into something different more organic and purposeful. Similarly I've had THE best experience with Echoes off the Pompeii live gig at the end of an electronic festival; the sun was coming up and the DJ had died down (or just waaaay too high to function properly) and I snuck in with my Floyd. Only about 30 people around but all of us shared a magnificent experience together.
After that I always get this warm and sunny feeling whenever I put on Echoes.

I actually really like it and was rather surprised to hear so many new facets to such a 'written in stone' genre as the Berliner Schule. It does not sound like Tangerine Dream for once - even if Zanov is using the same kind of equipment. I recommend you give it another go Samuel. It's not a completely new take on berlin school but it sounds very original - in fact reminding me of his first couple of albums only leaning more on contemporary, melodic and concise pieces. The heritage though is there in full methinks.

Given your recent go at post-punk/new wave I can think of no better recommendation for an electronic nut than Gary Numan's early career (also with Tubeway Army).

^^^Very interesting story, that one with "Echoes." And yeah, it's worth experimenting with your surroundings while listening to music. It can give you a whole new perspective on a given album, song or artist.

Yesterday:
Frankie Dymon Jr. - Let it Out
Pierre Arvay - Metal Sunshine
This Heat - Health and Efficiency EP
Sonny Rollins - Sony Rollins in Japan
A.R. & Machines - A.R. IV
Aristocrat P. Child - Now We're Getting Somewhere

Hey Tymon, I instantly thought of you, I came across a wonderful Canterbury-styled recommendation recently, I hope you haven't already posted this before! I only heard it for the first time the other day, someone posted it in a Canterbury and related Facebook group. Top notch stuff all around!

MASTER CYLINDER - ELSEWHERE (1981)

^Oh, yeah! I saw that one, too! And I even saw your (I think it was you) comment under the guy's another recommendation of that brilliant obscure Irish Canterbury band Supply, Demand and Curve. He seems to be digging out some real gems. Real treats, if you ask me! Smile And so yesterday, I put Master Cylinder on my listen-to list for this week, but I will listen to it today! I remember Mellotron Storm reviewed it once, but I forgot to check it out then. I read his review again yesterday (after I saw that post in the Facebook Canterbury group) and it got me quite interested. And the cover is very beautiful, in my opinion. Thanks a ton, Michael! Wink
