Yes, that reminds me of those people who post on the forums of an Italian newspaper, ranting and raving against immigration while mangling the Italian language beyond recognition Unhappy...

Oh, I know The Sun quite well, with its Page 3 girls and awful comments on very serious matters (such as the "Wallop!" when the Belgrano was sunk way back in 1982). I remember a comment by one of the teachers I had when  attending a language course in London in the early Eighties... He said The Sun was "a blend of pornography and fascism", and I think he was quite right.

It's funnier when a Page 3 "stunner" gives "their" opinion on the Chancellor's latest economic policy, or the current situation in Gaza.
Like they'd know.

now, is it a case that Britain has more knuckle draggers per head of population than anywhere else in Europe, or do we just have a media engine which is overly prepared to pander to them??Confused

Well, in Italy the press have been making a big deal about the so-called 'anti-Italian strike' in Grimsby (or wherever it was), but today the main headline was about an Indian homeless man being beaten up, doused with petrol, and then set alight by youngsters looking for 'strong emotions'... He is in hospital now, and I am not sure what will happen to the perpetrators. The saddest thing is that, on that online forum I mentioned earlier on, there were people excusing such an act because of the alleged 'exasperation' of the locals against immigration.

Wasn't it "Up Yours Delours"? about some EU business.  The Sun really is an embarrassment to anyone in the UK with an IQ above 50.Dead

What better way to brainwash the unwashed than with pornographic propaganda, but as one of their captions stated: ''Those who sneer at Page 3 lack intelligence." ...

On a brighter note - Saturday's Indie gave away a free Sigur Rós 'We Play Endlessly' album. Approve
What?

Just watched a documentary about Neil Young on BBC 4.  It made me want to listen to all his albums again.  The man really is a great talent and even his early 80s electronic stuff was interesting.Clap

Agreed - the version of Transformer Man on Unplugged left me wishing that he'd revisit some more of that stuff. I've been listening more to his sometime colleagues Crosby and Nash recently - their first two albums are well worth checking out, especially if you're a sucker for good vocal harmonies.

Yes, we've got a dusting of snow here in Gloucestershire this morning but the met office website currently shows sub zero temperatures and possible snow every day this week.  Must be global warming.

Although all his stuff is good I must agree that the first few albums contained the stuff that had the real emotion in it.  For me when I hear the intro of "Cowgirl in the Sand" or "Cinnamon Girl" it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Neil Young's "Trans" album has always been one of my favorites - I had a VHS of him playing in Berlin on that tour (with Nils Lofgren on guitar) & the blend of electronica & gutsy guitar work was superb; the problem is that video is not available on DVD - for that matter, neither is the "Weld" video - one of the best live films of Neil Young you'll ever see.
