The variety on the early Zappa/Mothers albums is hard to beat. IMHO, the
essential Zappa weirdness comes through best on the "Burnt Weenie
Sandwich", "Uncle Meat" & "Weasles Ripped My Flesh" efforts. Many of
Zappa's best "legit" compositions such as "Igor's Boogie" and "Little House i
Used to Line In" are on these albums. And if it's the compositions you are
drawn to, the more contemporary "Jazz From Hell" is a great set of
wonderfully-weird, left-of-field instrumentals.
