Really - he was horrified that the song in particular, revealed Peart's love of Ayn Rand - although I understand he has now renounced this...

Looks like I'm against the trend on this one - Rush gets the nod.

Yes, it's so strange I'll have you say it and merely agree. |
Yes, it's puzzling.

I'd go for Kansas any time BUT :
1) I'm not really fond of "Carry On..."
2) "Closer To The Heart" is a fantastic song.
So Rush this time.

Kansas. Geddy's vocals grate on me. I can only take his singing in small doses. Now his bass playing is second to none.

Stupid poll comparing two disparate songs. That said, Rush

Carry on my wayward son..
Never understood the adoration of Closer to the Heart. It's ok I guess...nothing special, although I prefer Rush overall.

This is arguably Kansas' best tune, not so much with Rush.

I don't get the feeling it's loathed from the Rush DVDs I've seen, it appears quite popular.

Closer to the heart, especially because of the version from Exit...Stage Left which is so intense, emotional. Kansas are great too, but Rush (in this case) have greater impact on me.

I like Kansas more than any other group but Rush is also in my top 10 or 20. I like Carry on but I'm sick of hearing it a million times on the radio. Sure it's better than closer to the heart, but thousands of songs are better than CTTH. Talk about the prog songs of both groups because I'm sick of just hearing Tom Sawyer, Freewill, and The Spirit of Radio, plus kansas like Carry Wayward Son, Point of know Return, and Dust in the Wind. Let's get more to the popular prog sides of both groups. Of course KANSAS is better than Rush, even in the 70's, but not by a whole lot!!
