I am a fan of both eras of marillion and bought Brave on its release. I have over the years revisited the album many times but still find it hard going. I find Bells underwhelming as well but it wins here.

Voted none of these....
I bought 'Bells' when it came out and it never appealed to me.
'Brave' has some nice music on it...the story doesn't appeal to me. 'To The Bone' is not Wilson's best work by any standards. |

Brave. Ever since I purchased it on the day of release, which happened to coincide with the first night my then cat Stinker spent with me, it has remained the finest album in my collection.
A work of such utter genius, it is almost beyond description. People also forget just how courageous this album was in the teeth of opposition from EMI.

Tubular Bells. A work of bravado although very uneven (better was to come from Oldfield imo) 3 stars.
Brave. I'm aware it has a massive fan club of its own. I'm not in it possibly because I saw Marillion open the Brave tour in Cardiff back whenever and it just didn't impress me. 3 stars. To The Bone. A totally mediocre, albeit consistent work, by a genius. 3 stars. I don't love any of them but TB gets the nod for me as its more original.

Tubular Bells, very easily. When I got to hear Brave (a live version), I just didn't understand what all the fuss about it is, and of course, was disappointed. To the Bone I just found it to be a lesser album compared to Steven Wilson's two previous ones.

I'll be the first to vote love all three equally even though all three are very different from each other.

Being honest here: Tubular Bells does absolutely nothing for me, and the other options less so.

Of the three I prefer Marillion's Brave by far. N.B. Recently bought the new remastered version of Brave, done by Steve Wilson, and still prefer the original 16/44.1

As usual Steve is spot on. Brave is an absolute MASTERPIECE of a recording, period. Having an issue of it being dark is strange, progressive rock in general can be very dark, melancholy. That's why God created pop music and the Fab Four. I play this album almost every month, one of the best uses of a dbl groove on Side IV, you never know which ending you will get.....Brilliant!

I needed a different option - love TB and Brave equally over the decent TTB - but went with Brave purely due to TGE, one of the very finest pieces of music ever created😎

TTB is a totally different proposition when you hear it performed live.
