Totally agree! 90125 was the first YES album I ever bought and Relayer was the last YES album I ever wanted to buy, although that was before I heard Open Your Eyes.

My cousin who was a big Yes fan didn't like Relayer either. Maybe you can give it another chance. It might grow on you. It's probably my favorite.

I agree with your assessment of Yes about accessibility.
I’m thinking Tales or Relayer are probably least accessible. I don’t mean they are bad (for the purpose of this question), but probably least accessible to the general public. I agree that 90125 would be most accessible overall. From the Steve Howe era, probably either The Yes Album or Fragile might be considered most accessible. There were quite a few hits on those. |

I listened to Relayer again recently and it's really grown on me now, but back in the early 70's, I was more into Glam Rock than Prog Rock, so it took the very accessible 90125 album to really Open My Eyes (and ears) to the wonderful sound of YES a whole decade later.

My vote would go to Tales. Relayer at least had some shorter-duration songs, and the bombastic percussion of "The Ancient" never did much for me (although I cherish the other sides).

If we're going accessibility for the general masses, I think Zappa's most accessible would probably be Apostrophe', Overnite Sensation, or Sheik Yerbouti. Those are his best selling records, and many people who aren't that into prog or experimental stuff like them because they aren't TOO out there, and they are pretty funny. I think You Are What You Is is also pretty accessible.
Least accessible from a compositional perspective would have to be something like Jazz From Hell, or one of the London Symphony Orchestra albums.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Very subjective this
Vangelis Most accessible Chariots of Fire Blade Runner Antarctica Least accessible Mask Beauborg Hypothesis Invisible Connections King Crimson Least accessible for me would be Discipline . I can't stand that album! The debut is most accessible if you ignore Moonchild. ELP is well covered by Exitthelemming so I won't go there too much. Love Beach is probably their most accessible and least accessible album depending on the side of the fence you are on!

Re King Crimson, their early eighties work has both most (Heartbeat, Sleepless) and least accessible material (Requiem, Industry, Dig Me...).They throw these elements together throughout their career and I love them for it.

Any discussion of inaccessible King Crimson starts and ends with Trakattak.

Thrak is absolutely NOT nu metal. Is it somewhere near Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, and Linkin Park? Absolutely not! Compared with Tool, it could be considered industrial rock or industrial metal, whatever it is people called it back then. I wouldn't know what it really is, but certainly not nu metal! |

Spock's Beard - I would go with Snow as least accessible , to me The Light is quite accessible. the Gentle Giant and Genesis examples could quite easily be switched round for me which shows just how subjective this topic is!

I think that Snow is just long, but easy to listen.
The Light has extensive and intricate songs. And I agree that Gentle Giant albums can not be ranked on this topic.
