VDGG - KC - GG

TD & PF could have been picked erm... arbitrarily?

I know I need to try harder with Soft Machine
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

^ Well, rather arbitrarily picked. These are all albums I really like in my collection, but I could have gone with various others by these acts as well as various others from my collection. With Pink Floyd, I was going to go with Meddle but changed my mind just before I posted. Partially I changed my mind because I think AHM is less popular, and because the AHM suite is very special to me. With TD I knew that was the one I wanted at this time, although I have given the earlier ones more attention in the past. I used to prefer TD pre-Phaedra, but now I am into the whole 70s decade for TD.

Same here. I think over the years of "deep listening" to Phaedra, I've become more aware of it's uniquely rich sonic palette. They've created something beyond what I can pick apart and understand intellectually (that goes for most - if not all music really). I'm experiencing a work of art that moves me, I suppose. Many have tried to replicate what TD accomplished on this album in particular - themselves included. But it still stands out to me. It's the blueprint.

^ Nice for me see the Serge Gainsbourg get a vote. People who know and like that and don't know Jean-Claude Vannier's L'enfant assassin des mouches could well be in for a treat.

Phaedra was my first Tangerine Dream album, but it was years later when it really moved me and resonated within me after putting it on again after considerable years. Music not just to be understood, but felt. Sometimes I just have to be in the right headspace to "properly" appreciate a thing.

How 'The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage' only has 3 votes is beyond me
