This thread is overrated.

They are fine, as long as the threadstarter uses a decent argument.

Why? It's only a matter of opinion , sometimes only taste! I think prog is free and should stay free! And

almost of the times also means freedom.

After all "PROG" in my opinion is all underrated!

No, the threads should not be banned because they are a reality check. An example was someone reviewed Genesis's 'Tresspass' yesterday and gave it 5 stars. Jeeezzz, give me a break, that album is so damn awefull! 'Fragile' was also reviewed and given 2 stars. A true prog classic that 'Tresspass' dosn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. This was just 'tactical' reviewing to jump 'Tresspass' up the charts. If someone had just found this site and read those reviews they would have probably have gone out and bought Tresspass and never bought another prog album again.

Like I say, these type's of threads keep thing a bit more realistic!

I don't think over-rated threads should be banned - more band threads should be over-rated.

This is typical of the modern proggist aesthetic that has
absolutely no historical perspective, and judges everything
from the standpoint of today, as if prog has always existed.
Somebody first had to do the work and the creative research
and experimentation and above all, take chances, that lead to
this form of music, it's called DEVELOPMENT. At the time of
Trespass, Genesis were like kids of 19 years, and they came
up with a phenomenally beautiful and original work, like
nothing that had existed before. How can one miss that without
Trespass, there would have been no Foxtrot or Selling
England, and certainly none of the Porcupine Theater stuff
lauded on this site. You don't have to love the album, but have
at least a bit of appreciation for history! That said, threads of this
kind are highly overrated.

Actually I think Trespass is under-rated and Fragile is over-rated!
