I think I read somewhere that Rush approached SW in order to have him produce their new album (due in 2007) - but now I don't remember whether he told them he had prior commitments. Perhaps it was Tony who wrote that here on PA... My memory is failing me these days, even though we're talking about the mighty Rush!

Wow,the power of Chinese Whispers !!

I suggested that Rush might ask SW to produce purely as a result of reading some very complimentary quotes from both Neil Peart (mentions "In Absentia" in his book "Travelling Music" and is a big fan of Gavin Harrison) and Alex Lifeson ( declared his admiration for SW and "Deadwing" recently).

This is what is known as pure speculation.....

I becoming a huge Steve Wilson fan, with Porcupine Tree becoming a favorite of mine. I am not, however, a Blackfield fan. I'd like to see Wilson break off with another project. Maybe something a bit more intense and louder than Blackfield. What band should he put together? Come with a great side project (even a name) for Wilson, what style should it be, and what musicians should back him up?

How can you like PT but not Blackfield?Confused

Out of all his numerous side projects,Blackfield comes the closest to sounding like Porcupine Tree.

That is the point : why have two PT's when we already have one ?  What is the point of having two projects that sound so much alike ?  I remember there was this song on Blackfield which Geffen sang...  but forgot the title... but if you listen to the structure, it is the exact same chord progression as 'Zombie' by The Cranberries...  (The Cranberries were good in their style, but leave it to them, that song was an obvious ripoff)  If Steven is still here, can he confirm this?  Also, I did not like Geffen's voice that much.

^ The song is called Pain ... and that chord progression is somewhat similar, but not nearly enough to call it a ripoff.Smile

For a serious answer:

I don't know. I'd be willing to check out whatever may come along, however. Smile

They should let him sing a song. LOL Ringo-style...

You've just had a heavy session of electroshock therapy, and you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks.

Must be easy, because I love PT... but I'm not really fond of Blackfield either.  Don't care for Aviv's voice or his style of singing...
