It's a great album, one of my top three Floyd albums.
But it's not perfect.

No.
While Breathe and The Great Gig In The Sky are amongst my most beloved
Floyd songs (Breathe is perhaps the most mellow and lovely song in the
universe) I have to say that both Us And Them and Any Colour You Like
drags it down. Not to mention On The Run. Completely pointless.
Other than that, the album is extremely good.

That depends on how you want perfect to be described: musically or commercially or ... ?
Anyway, when DSOTM was released it had a perfect lay-out, a perfect PR support, a perfect sound ("a hifi snob's wet dream"), a perfect melodic and accessible touch, a perfect instrumentation (including the VCS3 synthesizers), a perfect atmosphere between the four musicians and, in my opinion, a perfect tracklist

Personally I don't think any albums perfect. Dark Side is certainly a very good album, though. It flows beautifully. That said I certainly couldn't say that it has no weak tracks, On the Run lets the album down a bit, IMO.

I don't know about perfect (it has a case though), but in my mind, it was the band's best since Piper. Don't get me wrong, although I LOVE almost all the albums they did in that interim, they were patchy, imho. I think this was definitely the most cohesive thus far, and remains one of two masterpieces they made alongside Wish You Were Here, imho. I like most of their catalogue, though.

Yes, there is.
As none has the authority to declare a piece of art perfect, for the judgement would be purely subjective, the only way a record could be perfect is if the creator thinks it's perfect. If it's exactly what he wanted to write/compose/record, whatever, then the album is perfect for him, for it perfectly represents what he wanted it to. But that's it. None else can say if some work of art is perfect or not.

no. Just because something is popular doesn't mean that is perfect.
I prefer "Wish You Were Here" by far.

It gets a little boring after Money or Time, can't remember which comes first.
Floyd had far better albums than Dark Side.
Piper at the Gates, Animals, WYWH, Atom Heart Mother...

Dark Side is a great, great album, but it is also hugely overrated. Personally, I like Wish You Were Here and Animals better.

I dont think DSOTM is that perfect album, besides I think is really dificult to make a perfect album, and, of course, i think that they are some Ponk Floyd albums that are better than this one, such us The pipper and the gates.., Atom heart mother, or Wish you were here
