This could be of interest here - We have just been reviewed on the Dutch Progressive Rock Page at:

http://www.dprp.net/reviews/201012.php

I think its a pretty fair review.  We should be getting back into the swing of things soon, starting with a gig at The Box in Crewe (Cheshire, UK) on the 16th of April.

Thanks all,

J

Have listened a couple of songs on myspace. I like the vocal lines, overall music reminds me of Radiohead. Later part of Featherhead is really, really something. Keep on making that kind of music, it suits you.

Best wishes from Serbia.

Hi guys,

There is a fantastic inspired-by-Rage competition over here in the UK called storm the charts, where you can vote for bands to try and get an unsigned artist into the UK top 40!

So basically, if anyone has a few seconds to spare, please could you help Motion Theory out by clicking this link http://tinyurl.com/y9dy76z and selecting 'All I Need', a track off our album, 'featherhead' which has a few reviews on progarchives.

Cheers everyone, thanks for listening to the music - our website stats tell us that lots of our visitors are from the US now which is awesome!

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who voted, we are through to the next round!  Click here http://stormthecharts.com/poll.php?id=239&results to vote for us in the second round.  This gets us into the top 20 bands from a selection of over 500, so we'd really appreciate the votes - help get a xover prog artist into the UK top 40!!

Keep the votes coming, as voting ends on thursday night (uk time) at midnight.

Thanks everyone, i know prog-archives contributed to us sailing through the first round, and i am sure it can do it again.

In other news, we are gigging this week, we have just done a couple of radio shows and the first few festivals are being confirmed so things are looking up!

Hi guys,

Our one Easter gig went pretty well we think! Video highlights from the gig include 'All I Need'  and two new Motion Theory tracks called 'Anima (Fetch)' and 'Dead Reckoning' - these will be released on an EP towards the end of 2010.

Have a click and enjoy the new stuff. Thanks guys.

Alright all?  Just to fill you guys in - Motion Theory have got a gig at THE CAVERN CLUB in Liverpool... a venue that needs no introduction!

If anyone is around on the 6th August in the Liverpool area (or in the Cheshire area-we have organized a minibus) then the cavern club should be inserted into your diaries.... Motion Theory are performing a few new tracks, and are last on the bill.  I think the whole event is part of a larger competition to fill supports slots at the o2 arena or something...

Have just been listening to some fish-era Marillion.  I can't decide which singer I prefer.

Too bad.... I'm coming to England for holidays this year, but we only arrive on the 14th...

@Mods: why is this still in unsigned bands? May as well be moved to Appreciation...

Hi All,

We have put the entirety of our last gig at the famous Cavern Club up on Youtube and on our site.  You can watch the set in order on the website (www.motiontheoryband.com).  I think it was our best gig to date and definitely worth a look if you have a minute or two...

Here is a particular progy highlight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBYOKW1aESg

Enjoy ;-)

I listened to the album and it's pretty good work, I like the clear voice of the singer and the drum sounds good. I also like the 6/8 part in "I like the smell...".

Another gig at the Cavern Club! This time around they are giving us a shot to play at the O2 Academy in Liverpool, as long as we impress the judges.

Thanks for listening to the album GY!BE.  The more the merrier, and it is free after all!  Cheers guys. x

Moved to Bands and Genre Appreciations. Motion Theory is included in the archives, no longer unsigned.

Cheers Angelo.  Excellent bit of news!

Motion Theory are all on a writing retreat in Shrewsbury (Home of Charles Darwin!) and things are going well.  We have been listening to a combination of Portishead, Porcupine Tree and Massive Attack and the various Maynard projects...

If any of the US prog fans are over in the UK presently, then head over to the Cavern Club in Liverpool (made famous by the Beatles) on the 30th September.  If not, then you will be able to watch all the videos in HD on our website at www.motiontheoryband.com

Ok, massive plug over....Sorry PA!

Jamie

Hi JLocke,

We filmed the first Cavern gig ourselves, and you can check out the entire gig by clicking on www.motiontheoryband.com and then clicking on the 'media' tab at the top.

The second Cavern gig we had filmed professionally and we are just waiting to get our hands on the tape!  Ill let you know when these go live on our site. Smile

Hope you enjoy the vids!

The opening riff is pretty sweet. The song as a whole puts me in mind of Muse. I like it. Thumbs Up

Cheers JLocke,

I think the lexicon reverb helps the riff along nicely - It is difficult to play without relatively new strings too!

Any more comments welcome from the wonderful PA forum!
