Given how amazing their last album was, it would be pretty hard to top;)

What Harry said. Although I'll cream my pants if it's better than Bedlam. Big smile

meh, the single is not acoustic at all. It is heavy, dissonant, and uptempo, but much better than the stuff in Bedlam.

The other link is just a voice and an acoustic. I hope the studio version has more texture.

Bedlam was another great entry to their catalogue, I don't think they'll let me down this time either. Cotopaxi works very well, I've listened to it twice so far.

Uh, Bedlam was a decent album, but as a Mars Volta album it kinda disappointed me, you know? The high (pun not intended ;P) vocals and the sonic chaos just weren't prolly my kind of thing. There were some pretty good, even awesome moments but it just didn't reach the previous albums' quality. But it had energy, that was just marvelous.

And Cotopaxi had the same energy, but the song structures were more like "before-TBiG"-Volta-style and guess what means these two fused together? Awesomeness, yes. I liked Cotopaxi very much and I'm seriously waiting for the album.

Hopefully this one will be more song-orientated affair.

They can write great songs but for some mystic reason they always fill about 50% of their albums with drone and noise.

When they are good, they are really really good. At their worst they are, well, really really baaaaad!

Cotopaxi sounds like a great song, but am I the only one here who's kind of bothered that the production sounds almost exactly like the last two albums? Omar either needs to learn how to produce albums with different personalities & atmospheres or they should get Rick Rubin or an equivalent back at the helm there. In any case I think this is going to be a great record, even if the production isn't anything special.

I discovered them this year and they are one of the most original bands from this era. Bedlam was avery good and agressive record. I just hope this time they make a 50 minute one instead of the usual length.

^They do. It may feel a bit weird because I'm used to their albums being the massive time consuming mouthfuls they've been up to this point.

I knew that! I knew that!WinkLOL

Anyway, good news for those of you who were worried about the album's length... It seems this one is 49 minutes only, which is a really good thing. One of the main flaws of TBiG, in my opinion (as I pointed out in my review of it), was its excessive length.

49 minutes? A song named after a mountain I've actually half-climbed? Seems I may give TMV a last try....

It would be the ridiculous case of a band I don't like that I own all their albums from... wait, I already do...Confused

I should probably put the links for all four songs at the first page as well. It's to long to wait for this album. So far sounds like Frances crossed with Bedlam. This surely can't be a bad thing.
