No favorites. Pick the one that is technically better or turn in your Prog badge and gun. Angry

Even though I've been playing guitar for 21/22 years, I'm in no position to say who's better technically. Both guitarists are outstanding and have demonstrated incredible technical facility on their instruments.

I guess I should turn in my Prog badge and gun then. Big smile

I prefer pretty much listening to an outstanding composition than a virtuosity spectacle, so:

STEVE HACKETT !

Stole my line! But seriously, I voted for Howe this time.

Depends on what 'better' means. Too ambiguous. No vote.

Both excellent players, but from following their careers and seing both live multiple times I'll give it to Steve Hackett.

i guess im the only one here that Hackett is spelled with 1 and not 2 t's, and yes i am not a big fan of incorrect grammer (go see YGS from jacksfilms and hilarious and true). anyway, its Howe for me but they're both great!

Update: nevermind Dean got it first, but at least that's recognized now hopefully lol

I think Steve Howe is a bit more versatile, especially on Clap and Mood For A Day (although Hacketdid Blood On The Rooftops and Horizons), so he'll get my vote. Also, I found out fairly recently that Howe can't read music! Pretty impressive to have taken the guitar to such a high level but to write the kind of music Yes wrote is insane!

sheesh, i didn't notice that till several minutes ago myself, and im a big Yes fan!!

I prefer Genesis over Yes, by a wide margin, but I like Howes tone better than Hackett's.
