So it's a personal thing?

Maybe a smidge.

Another T insurgent?  Seems to be rating other new albums down, but it could just be me.  His review seems hokey.

From Wikipedia:
Man on the Rocks is upcoming twenty-fifth studio album British musician Mike Oldfield, due to be release on 27 January 2014 on Virgin EMI label.

....and has already a rating.

A ton of amazing albums in that one-star spree, too.

Dang! 1178 albums rated by that first user and a ton are 1 star including every Rush album!

"Can I Play With Madness" was the first single from the album and the weakest track with a pretty generic Marcia sound as well as having a quite false family feel to it......But i can forgive that, i have certainly heard a lot worse, like Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep and Sugar Sugar.

THIS IS DIABOLICAL! How dare he state that Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep is worse than Can i Play with Madness! He is messing with the classics here!

Here's one I came across today that I found pretty unnecessarily harsh and distasteful. I haven't actually heard the album, or anything from this artist ever for that matter, but even without having heard this I felt this review to be inappropriate and unjustifiably negative. Also vague in some aspects of the criticism.

It's currently on the home page. I disagree but I think it's aproper review. I have listened to part of the album only and only once so I can't say, really, but effectively I have had the impression of nothing new. Not so bad to deserve one star, IMO, and Wakeman is easily recognisable, but effectively I haven't find any hint of Emerson or Hackett up to now.

For me it's a proper review, not a great one but it's not against any rule. My first review  (GTR) was really worse than this.

I don't see anything wrong with it either. He even says that he enjoys some of the other Ayreon releases, which makes the review seem more palatable to folks who aren't in the know. This is not just a bashing of an artist whom the reviewer finds utterly s.h.i.t.e.
Oh and this is coming from a guy who really dislikes Ayreon, but have found the new one strangely interesting (yup I streamed it).

haha - almost every one of his other instalments are all ratings only but he chooses to review an album he hates. Anyway it wont make a scrap of difference - everybody else is rating it 4 and 5 stars. It is a brilliant album and 1 star is ridiculously harsh. 1 star my Aston Martin!

It makes sense to review the album his opinion differs, wouldn't make sense if every review said and praised the same things.

I think it's just fine, I also laughed at the cancer line.

"Nice interplay by Jack Lord and Clayton Blackmore, topped off by some great vocals from Ian Gillian which brings to mind the smell of lifts in blocks of flats just after the cleaner has mopped them out."

Sorry but I disagree. I have read his review of b'Sides Themselves and I have to say that I agree with what he says about i.e. Three Boats Down, but first of all his humour is not "universal" as some of the names he mentions are not known outside of his country. If somebody wnats to make humour there's a number of mor appropriate websites around. He may start a blog on PA for his kind of humour but I don't like it on the home page.

Said so, I think he knows what he's writing about and it's a pity.
