I guess it was just surprising to me he can race rally, quite fine apparently, but I know there are all sorts of different impacts on your body/skills involved so different series may not translate.
Oh my, if it's still an issue I'd assume there's a decent chance it may never fully recover, at least maybe not to a level he could race F1 with.

I have to admit, it is looking that way. The problem's space, and the lack there of in an F1 cockpit, a problem you don't get in roofed cars.

Yeah, well it's all good. Was hopeful..but from the start seemed odds were low he'd return to F1, esp after a couple of years passed.
Shame

Sean Edwards (who was a winning co-driver of the 2013 Nurburgring 24 Hours) has died in a crash in Australia.  He was the son of Guy Edwards, who took part in 17 F1 races as well as the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Sad news indeed.

Very, he was an excellent driver that could match any of Porsches works drivers in a 911 and also won the last 2 Dubai 24 hours races, he's also currently leading the Porsche Supercup. RIP

Interestingly, his dad was one of those that pulled Lauda from his burning wreck at the Nurburgring in 76.

Final ever ALMS race at Petite Le Mans tomorrow, before it merges with Grand-Am to form the United Sports Car Championship, with Porsche bound Neel Jani putting his Rebellion Lola-Toyota on pole.

That was terrible news to read.  Way too young and in his prime.

Anyone else watching this Indycar season finale at Fontana?  Pretty good so far and Helio wants this championship bad.

Not looking good for Helio at this point.  Dixon ahead of him at this point.  If only Houston hadn't happened. Unhappy

Dixon champion for the third time now. Sounds like the race was chaos, Wilson has a fractured pelvis after his t-bone with Vautier, a shame given he's probably been the best driver this year. To those that know oval racing better than me, whats a seam? They've been mentioned a few times in the run up to the race as a cause of several spins but I have no idea what it is.

Rebellion wins the last ever ALMS race at Petite Le Mans with Heidfeld, Prost and Jani. Was looking like it was going to be an epic battle for he win with the Pickett HPD, but the car overheatd and retired at half distance.

The only thing epic about the WEC race from Fuji was the weather, it got red flagged after only 16 laps, all behind the safety car because of the monsoon conditions.

Auto Club Speedway has seams that go all the way around the track.

If they get into the corner, turning while the tires are on one of the seams, it greatly increases their chances of losing control.  It affects the Indycars moreso and once they lose control, that's it.

Thanks for that.

Auto Club Speedway? I always thought it was called Fontana.

ACS is the official name, but yeah, it's usually just called Fontana.

In a fairly surprising move for next year's Toro Rosso seat to replace Ricciardo, a young Russian by the name of Daniil Kvyat gets the nod to replace him and move to F1 next year.

Daniil Kvyat! Now thats a surprise, I thought he was third in line behind da Costa and Carlos Sainz Jr to move up on the RB ladder. Mind you, he has looked very good in every thing he has driven so not a huge surprise, and measn we'll have two Russians on the grid next year with Sergei Sirotkin.

I wish it could be three Russians with Vitaly Petrov in there as well, but no dice, it seems.

WOW.
Gotta feel just awful for Helio, finally that title was his and according to you guys he had 2 engine failures in 2 races...I mean if you crash at least you can say (regretfully) it's your own doing but engine failures? oi that is some hard sh*t

But he also had only one win.
That's how the cookie crumbles eh?
Congrats to Dixon

And thats it, Vettel champion with a dominant win in India. Interesting race with the divergent strategies and Grosjean from 17th to 3rd on a one stopper, I loved it mid race when the BBC asked a Pirelli tech whether they thought it was possible and his response was "Mama Mia!".LOL

Kubica is a few hours away from winning the WRC2 class this afternoon on Rally de Catalunya, he's got a 4 minute lead in class with 3 stages to go and only needs to finish 2nd to wrap up the championship. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in a full WRC car in a few weeks on Rally Great Britain.
