Change all the PF-related words with the Genesis-related ones in this phrase and you have my opinion on this...People tastes are so varied.Wink

I know lots of folks don't dig Us And Them, but, yes it is a bit lengthy (7:30 - longest track on the album), but it's just so mellllllllow, how could one not enjoy it ??? The only reason I WOULDN'T grant it 5 stars, is because it's just such a 'mainstream' success (and I don't think I've spun/heard any album as often as this one - I used to hear it over the PA system when I frequented the car races whilst camping at Warrnambool as a youngster, and later at the Calder raceway back in the day......... Amazing album, whatever anyone thinks, but there's better.........

Dark Side...
I spent a lot of time with this album in the early seventies and still never got tired of any part of it.
Many other albums were put back on the shelf after a few spins.
That means a lot to me when it comes to judging individual albums.

Like Svetonio (I suspect), my enjoyment of these two bands definitely does not extend to all of their records.  It might not extend to even the majority of their work.  I am picking Dark Side as one of their best releases IMHO.
I am the funkiest man on the planet!

Never known a person who does. It's, imo, one of the best on the album (second after On The Run).
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...

^ It's not anything very special but it's the combination of... well, it's the addition of... umm... I don't even know why. Something just seems so perfect about it.

Exactly Thumbs Up I am not a fan of Pop Genesis as same as I am not a fan of some of PF albums.

In my mind no. I do like Alan Parsons as an artist and recently bought Pyramid which I like a lot. However DSOTM could have done with a more 'lively' punchier production for me. I've seen tracks ( and once the whole thing) performed live over the last 5 or 6 years several times. Most have been by The Australian Pink Floyd and once by Roger Waters and another by Britfloyd. What comes across is how good it works in an arena. You can't beat it really. On The Run at the Birmingham NEC by Roger Waters was absolutely spectacular. I loved it while on the album it's just so so. I blame the production.

Neither's my favourite from the respective bands, and neither's a masterpiece either, IMO. Foxtrot gets the vote, 'cause of Supper's Ready.

Genesis, Foxtrot.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.
