Gong did make a good little come back.... same as Darwin did.. got down by a fair amount and not exactly even early on. The fat lady was truly beginning to warm up.. the Gong Army arrived apparantly.
We saw the power of the Gong army in the band contest...

^ really tight... though I don't think any of these can compare to the drama.. not to mention the closeness with a great many more votes.. think it was within one or two votes with over 100 total.. of the Camel v. ELP poll in the battle of the bands tournament.
'Camel fan' was sweating bullets man No one expected it to be that close. Not even ELP fan.. it was a even moral victory going down in defeat by what was it.. 3 votes with nearly 120 total votes.

I think this is the only one I've not voted in as yet. Given the closeness of the battle I fear a full listen to both albums is appropriate. From the clips , not sure. Was never a GG acolyte and I confess I only listened to the clip in previous rounds so I havn't heard all of Octupus for some forty odd years, perhaps the even as well but odd is my prevailing mood. After listening to this clip I was ready to go with GG but that Gong track is quite appealing, albeit at times a wee bit too furnky for my tastes. Biggest problem I have right now is that I'm in the middle of "L'Isola di Niente". I fear neither GG or Gong are worth an interuption so tenterhooks it must be.

Man, am I glad I stayed with PFM.
TWalsh is spot on, Gong is groovier. Still a but too git down furnky for my current tastes but it is well played. Then so is Octopus.
I don't know, I keep running into various outfits who I really wanted to like back in the day but just found them wanting. I thought maybe now I was all growded upded this more mature me would see through the surface veneer but with GG no, not really. Yes, I know GG do what they do extremely well but when it all comes down to they are really really boring. There are a couple of older outfits given a second (or fifth chance) by me during these polls who I've really come to appreciate but GG ? Nah.
I'd rather listen to Gong.
Which is somewhat depressing and thankfully avoidable cos I can also toddle off and try another PFM album.

GG - Acquiring the Taste man.. that is definitely not boring. Hell none of the first 3 are. I do see where you are coming from though.. I think they fell off the cliff after Octopus. They did for me. Not in quality..they were too good a band ... but pure simple enjoyment. They lost a vital group member and the sound of the band changed.
which PFM album you moving to next? You might also check out the albums they did with De Andre. The live ones from the late 70's Amazing stuff man.. I wouldn't classify them as essential classics.. but after those mandatory four.. they need to be next on to the get list.
caught myself dancing with myself many time to this.. and when I can catch Raff.. I take her for a twirl..

OK, so boring might be too strong but it completely failed to hold onto my attention. Got about 3/4 the way through and gave it away. what was it you said somewhere else .... no love.
Was about to hit Stati but was intercepted courteous of the GG You Tube page by another mob "The Trip". Never heard of them but "Caronte" worked for me. Stati has just kicked off. Liking it thus far. Actually liking it a lot.
Will play that clip when Stati finishes.

It is a fabulous album regarded of what the few detractors say haha. One of the few modern albums that a classic band has put out that compare favorable with their 'classic' albums.
