I would remove Queen to art rock, and Iron Maiden to proto-prog (that's making sense if you think about it) George Michael and Queen: Five Live is not THAT horrible; it's even somewhat artsy-fartsy. Why would anyone want to remove Kate? I wouldn't remove anything, not even Tool. Edited by clarke2001 - March 25 2007 at 17:00 |

no, because the time is at least ten years too late. ProtoProg must have been recorded prior to 1969 to qualify as the music that led to prog. Edited by Atavachron - March 25 2007 at 23:07 |

Don't you see? Iron Maiden existed then IN SPIRIT. ...And in the form of whatever the crap Ritchie Blackmore was doing at the time (when was that "Hush" recorded?).

Well, that is a big reason for the proto, and related categories. They bring more people in. That is not such a bad thing either. Some new prog lovers might be created along the way. I came here on a search for progressive music that I hadn't heard. So, the bands in question didn't turn me away. I found what I was looking for, and much more. |

I was listening to Nightwish the other day, I would also like to see them removed or put in Prog Related. They are as Progressive as Epica and Edenbridge. Pure Symphonic Metal. Edited by WaywardSon - March 27 2007 at 12:10 |

While we're at it, let's also get rid of Neo, Folk, RIO, RPI, Art, Metal, and Fusion. Oh, and especially Symphonic. Wow is that stuff pompous and irritating. |

No, really, you know the band that should be removed. 14 Minutes of Repetition, you know...Why name names? (they are not in any other prog-site)...
I agree that Nightwish is not prog, but they're cool. But Therion, you b*****d! .....
I'd remove anybody that speaks up against the New York Greats........
Yes, let the Dictatorship of the T'ariat begin! I'll start a purge of unknown proportions... This site would be reduced to 500 bands at the most.... All of them approved by yours truly.... (man I rerally need to get me my own website... where democracy would have a place...aftter I dictate it, of course)

I say we remove King Crimson. Then we could have an open debate as to who really initiated the prog era, namely Klaatu or maybe John Coltrane with A Love Supreme (hey, 4 songs as part of a suite, it's got prog written all over it)

^That sounds fair - after all, Fripp is famous for denying any Prog Rock links.

We could also remove Genesis on those grounds. Banks, Collins and Rutherford never considered Genesis prog!

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
