2.  Is anyone else noticing the gradual but obvious diminution of quality in general from 1970 to 1975? Obviously there are still the standouts in each year, but in this 1975 poll the choices are much easier than in the earlier ones, where there is such a wealth incredible music.

Clap

yepper... as Fripp said..  or was it the other sour prog-puss Bill Bruford who said..with anglo-centric prog eyes.. prog should have died after 1974. Reclcyed ideas and tons of clones who popped up...  stopped being progressive... and became regressive.

however.. . thankfully.. because English prog after 1974 generally sucks....prog is not english only...  want to find great ..fresh.. prog in the late 70's... look to Spain.. who started late.. but did it with a fresh slant.. and influences.

It's what drove me to jazz, given that I did not have any access to non-anglo prog at the time.

figure it was a bitch back in the day....  the internet was the rebirth of 'exotic' prog.  Even the Italian sh*t was mostly out of print (but for the rabid Japanese market) for many years.. till the internet came along.....

The release for Trick Of The Tail was in feb. 76... wouldn't be fair to put it in the poll.

The Generator of course... Godbluff is amongst the top 10 for a reason.

For me the best song would be Shine On You Crazy Diamond, absolutely no doubt about it.

But best album? Well, that's difficult... My favourite album... my nominees would be Pink Floyd, Van der Graaf, PFM, Mike Oldfield and Hatfield.

And I choose... Hatfield Shocked

Well this seems to be getting a little easier..........or is it?

Because I cannot be too Gentle Giant-centric , " The Rotter's Club " gets the nod from " Freehand ", and most deservedly so.
Looking still the same after all these years...

WITF do you come up with Masque for Kansas?  What about 'Song for America' - their BEST album(probably, ever!)  Based on that choice, I went for JT, Minstrel in the Gallery.  Gotta love Barlow's double-bass drumming (in the mid-1970s).  A "tasty" prog title-cut, for sure...
