The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other needs a vote or two. My tastes change like the weather and quite frankly this morning I find this album breathtaking. Just listen to the first cut.Pawn Hearts might be their crowning achievement, but this one is for the underdog.

Pawn Hearts is the only VDGG album that I can enjoy. Luckily, that one album is fantastic.

Pawn Hearts is perfect. Poetic, epic, a much deeper meaning than just an album, chaotic and serene at the same time... Man this album changed my life.

Is it just me, or is the mixing on Pawn Hearts beyond horrible? I find it difficult to listen to. Is there a remaster someone might suggest?

Even the remaster doesn't sound that great productionwise, haha. It doesn't really bother me though it's still a great album.

World Record. The musicianship is wonderful, and the thing grabbed me right from the get-go because of it. A friend had initiated me into the world of Graaf months earlier way back when with Pawn Hearts, but it was 'Record that made me a fan.

still life. Polished, refined but agressive. La Rossa is my fave.

VdGG is so amazing I'll probably never decide. I love absolutely everything Hammill has done although I can't say that for sure because I'm missing about 4 of his solo albums.
But for VdGG itself...if you put a gun at my head it'd be Still Life.
Right now, my top five are:
Aerosol
Still Life
Pawn Hearts
Godbluff
A Grounding in Numbers

This!
Right now it's A Grounding in Numbers because Snake Oil hits me like a ton of bricks.
For some reason however I'm becoming strangely attached to this album, more so than all the others. Probably because it was my first VdGG album since discovering them.

This thread has been bumped numerous times over the past year. That's
okay, always nice to have a VDGG poll present. My favourites remain
Still Life and Godbluff - flawless albums. Pawn hearts is a near perfect
album as well, I just prefer the less chaotic/ tortured, and more melodic style
of the later albums.

He to the He.
It has the insanity of Pawn Hearts, accessibility of Godbluff, and a vast difference between all the tracks which is slightly lacking in the other mentioned two.

Yeah, A Grounding In Numbers is really an incredible album that gets better with each listen. Easily the best of the three 'comeback' studio albums. It's totally grown on me and I'm completely amazed that it was made by guys in their 60's because it sounds so energetic, creative, and fresh. As far as individual tunes, I just abslutely love Mr Sands, Highly Strung, Embarassing Kid, Smoke... they're all pretty incredible. In fact, I was just thinking about this the past week. AGIN has (for the moment) entered my top three fave VdGG albums of all time: Godbluff (1) Still Life (2) A Grounding In Numbers (3)
