Not only the truly awful Piper at the Gates of Dawn but the almost
equally bad Saucerful of Secrets. And I'd hoped it would be as good as
Meddle/ Obscured by Clouds. No chance.
Tales from Topographic Oceans is a very close second. |
Hehe, to each their own to be sure, but you have to ask yourself why
your on this site if two of the greats of prog don't appeal to you
mate? Insulting FLOYD AND YES in the same post. Surely, that has to
merit 50 lashes!

are you a yes fan and don't like that album, or don't like Yes at all.just curious.

A Yes fan who doesn't like "Close to the Edge"??? Wow, I can't get my mind around that one. | I can't get my mind around it either. It's kind of like trying to comprehend infinity. CTTE is certainly one of the most adored, innovative. and recognized albums in the progressive genre.

Nightwish: Over the Hills and Far Away.
What a sh*tty music they have. I was so disappointed and almost about to hang myself.

My most disappointing purchase was Tales from Topographic ocean. I got Relayer and Close to the Edge before it and as some of you may have seen I rate "The Gates of Delirium " as the greatest track ever recorded. I had heard that TFTO went to number one. I was expecting 4 Gates or CTTE type tracks I listened for months and other than a few parts of the first and third sides could not derive barely any satisfaction. It may not be the worst album in the prog archives but the gap between what I was expecting and what was received was so vast I can never forget it.

It really wasn't 'til after Relayer came out that I went back to that one to fully appreciate it. NJ, collaborator now, huh? Congrags! Manni, you want to show us the hickeys on your butt for this? JUST KIDDING! It is Friday, thank God!

I agree somewhat but I think the two longest songs have some good moments. I had to prepare myself for some very pop-styled prog before I liked them though. Don't listen to GG first then SMPTe LOL

Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
I have played it the requisite 5 times and while it is not utter drivel i can't see it sliding into the cd cartridge much more. What an uninspired piece of work lacking melody or any discernable features that mark it as prog album. Sheer Humdrum. Oh well In Absentia was a bit better.

Who are these people ?
Close to the edge - Worst Prog purchased, Tales from Topographic Oceans.....
Hmmmmm
Like I have pointed out - TFTO is a definative work that grows on you - I first heard in in 1980 and I was disappointed - But it has grown on me more and more over the past 20 - years,
Perhaps the two Godspeed You Black Emperor CD's I bought will grow on me in the next 20 years (If I get the courage to play them again) - If not then you have my two worst purchases...
Tony - I bought SMPTE off ebay today and I like it !!!!
