Dang, another one? They're cranking them out!

Not that I'm complaining, of course. LOL

Their worst. Very close to progressive metal with reduced use of keyboards... I miss the magic and the crazed Zappaisms of their early works...

Don't like their new direction, now they have removed what was great with this band : originality!

I saw Beardfish live in May of this year, so I am hesitant to claim they have lost their way with their latest release - simply put, it was one of the best live performances I've seen by any band.  That said, 'The Void' left me with a void of my own after repeated listens.  There are some high points to the album, but sadly an equal number of puzzling moments where I couldn't understand how a band that has written such tracks as "Sleeping In Traffic" and "And The Stone Said...If I Could Speak" could also write some of the metal-ish stuff on this album.  Granted the whole album is not heavy, but it is difficult as a longtime Beardfish fan to sit through the first two tracks of the "Void" and not feel as if you've been taken advantage of.  I'm more a fan of the quirky, eclectic approach that has made Beardfish who they are (and which they still display in live performance).  Hopefully this is simply a brief diversion and they will quickly return to what they do best.
