What a horrible list. I really can't be bothered to work out how many I
own. I might not be getting this mag after all then.

Is the interview with Ray Shulman lengthy, or just a cursory mention? I couldn't care less about Floyd or Genesis.

Cursory is the word Mr Trousers, although I must admit that I quite enjoyed leafing through the mag the other day with the Radio Gnome Trilogy in the background and my good friend Mr Bong keeping me company. There are a couple of pretty good articles about Gong and Soft Machine, not exactly in depth but more accurate and better written than I expected. For an old git like me the pictures also brought back some happy memories, and I enjoyed disagreeing with the album selection and wondering why there was no article about Gentle Giant, or Gryphon, or any of the European acts of the era. On the whole I'd give the mag 3 stars (and some older proggers would probably award another half star for the colour pic of Stacia in the Hawkwind article).

50% The reds are the ones I own.
This list is crappy IMO. Examples:
It lacks coherence. Tool, Radiohead, Sigur Ros and The Mars Volta are all fantastic bands, but they seem to be a bit out of place here (35 out of 40 are from late 60's/early 70's). But ok, they have included them, so where is Porcupine Tree, Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Archive and other ambitious new bands. The addition of these four clearly indicates that this list should be much bigger.
Is Marillion the only neo-prog (God how I hate this term!) band that is worth mentioning?
Is The Yes Album really that essential (compared to Fragile, Relayer and... yes! Tales From Topographic Oceans)? Tubular Bells is IMO the most overrated record ever! If it was my first Mike Oldfield album I (knowing its reputation as his absolute masterpiece) wouldn't probably even bother to listen to the rest of them (loosing such gems as Ommadawn, Hergest Ridge or Songs Of Distant Earth).

I have owned 17 of those, but got rid of A Night at the Opera and Wish
You Were Here at some stage in my life... But, well, I guess this means
that I have 23 most wonderful albums to discover! Yay!!

2 albums I think should have made the cut: Rush's Hemispheres, and PF's Animals. They're some of my favorite prog albums, anyway. King Crimson Red? Then again, about the last fifteen of them are foreign to me.

Q is not my favoutrite magazine since they described Wigwam as 'art rock bollocks', however it's good to see Moontan by Golden Earring get a mention.
