Some secondhand CDs

Genesis - Calling All Stations CD+DVD -- repurchase. reacted in horror to it after playing it once 16 years ago and decided it was time to give it another chance.  It can't be that bad. I love almost everything else Genesis did.   Listening to it now and it's not unpleasant.  It's kind of like Porcupine Tree, in an odd way.

Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson -- seen David-Bamsen playing this a lot and since it's not a common sight in stores I thought I'd grab it.  First sampling sounds cool.

Grateful Dead - Grateful Dead -- the debut album from '67 plus some key bonus tracks

Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power -- I've never really latched on to this one.  First time I got it, I thought it sounded kind of muffled and weak.  Then when Iggy remixed it and reissued it, I thought it sounded kind of harsh and piercing.  I'd never had a problem with the other two Stooges albums so I knew it was just a matter of time.  Today I found a remastered version of the original mix, and I'm hoping this combination does the trick.  It's also a deluxe set with a live CD from Atlanta (yay) in 1973, looks pretty hardcore.

It really isn't terrible. It's tolerable. Just a basic, slightly fun listen.
You could say its in the 'good, not essential category.'

It left me with a good feeling inside, and that's something.  A basic, slightly fun listen as you say.
Would you believe me if I told you that when it first came out, and I bought it right away, I was expecting Phil Collins to be on it?  That's the main reason I went into shock, I think.  I just never got the memo. LOL

A friend of mine at work burned me a copy of Return To Forever's "Romantic Warrior".  Not really a purchase, but an addition nonetheless.  Pretty good, too.

Painkiller by Judas Priest. It's not often I get something from 1990 or later, but, hey, it's Judas Priest. For the moment, my favorites are the title track, "Touch Of Evil", "Metal Meltdown" and "Night Crawler".

Haha yes. NightCrawler is a wicked track. Had that one stuck in my head for weeks when I first heard it.
Also, Painkiller is the very first 'metal' album to win a Grammy award.

Last new one of the year was NIN Hesitation Marks.  Someone on this site did a post to remind me there was a new one out.  I recommend checking out the free live video for the tour.  I would never have expected Reznor to add two black female backup vocalists to his touring band.  Actually pretty cool.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I guess so! took me a while to buy this album because Phil wasn't even on it.
You have to ask yourself this question...when I listen to Calling All Stations does it really sound like a 'Genesis album?
I personally don't think it does. Banks is really the only recognizable member.

I liked it. I think nobody wants to see a 48 year-old man acting like 'Mr. Self destruct' anymore. The change in direction soundwise was necessary but still not my favourite from the NIN team.
