I've ordered Soft Mountain.  I'm a huge fan of Hopper and Dean, so when they both join up with Yoshide Tatsuya of Ruins, Korekyojin and Koenjijyakkei, how can I say no?

I did find this on my travels around the 'net.  I've no idea what's it like, but it's described as dark ambient jazz, so it may not be your thing.  The cover is my kind of thing though.

Very slow dark ambient jazz.

If you're not so worried about guitar, then try Centipede - Septober Energy, Elton Dean - Just Us, as well as other Keith Tippett projects from the '70s.

Hectic Watermelon are also pretty intense and do have guitars, so check them out.

I've heard three Bohren CDs and I can tell you there's no "madness" to them, they're 100% chilled and very very slow.

That bad, eh? LOL

A bit like Doom or Funeral Metal, only jazz based?

Yes, but not really even heavy, just moody. Like if My Dying Bride were a jazz quartet I guess. I far prefer funeral doom heh.

^^^^ truthfully I'm not sure, I would be tending towards no. They are most likely the darkest Jazz you will hear. I would try samples before you even think about purchasing. Black Earth would probably be a good place to start. I would not suggest their lastest outing 'Geisterfaust', it takes slow to a whole new level. Definitely a few albums you need to have some patience with, but if they click can be very rewarding.

Panzerballet has arrived and greatly enjoying their brand of jazz fusion. Avant (IMHO) only from the fact of being a newer form of fusion, but I hear some similiarities with theUK movement lead by Acoustic Ladyland, known as nu .jazz. locally
The best eclectic music on the Web,8-11pm BST/GMT THURS.

Like that one as well. Hope that my fellow ZART members will vote yes so that I can add them to PA.

Well not quite, but I personally wouldn't mind them there.
They were actually first considered by the PMT and we moved it to ZART.
But JRF is also possible, and actually would be easier since the voting aspect will be gone as I see you are in favour of them and they did receive more approval of them being in PA (regardless of genre).
So, let's first add them to JRF and then we can discuss if any move should be made to ZAR.

All for them  being here. To my ear I hear a JRF band with a newish edge. An thought reinforced by my reading about them on a JRF site a few days before reading  about them here. Tell you what I'll e.mail Jan Zehrfeld at Panzerballet and ask him what he would prefer the band to be labelled as here

Ok, case resolved. Here is what Jan wrote back to me:

Hi Assaf!

1. Unfortunately I have not written any short bio in English yet. Right now I am too busy
to do it, but here is a link to an interview in English:
http://www.nucleusprog.com/ingles/r-panzerballett.htm

2. I would say it's more Jazz-rock/Fusion.

Thanks a lot!

Greetings,
Jan

I'll add them to JRF.
