A close finish:
(1) Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd (2) Godbluff - Van Der Graaf Generator (3) The Snow Goose - Camel (4) Free Hand - Gentle Giant
Four masterpieces...

2. Is anyone else noticing the gradual but obvious diminution of quality in general from 1970 to 1975? Obviously there are still the standouts in each year, but in this 1975 poll the choices are much easier than in the earlier ones, where there is such a wealth incredible music. |

yepper... as Fripp said.. or was it the other sour prog-puss Bill Bruford who said..with anglo-centric prog eyes.. prog should have died after 1974. Reclcyed ideas and tons of clones who popped up... stopped being progressive... and became regressive.
however.. . thankfully.. because English prog after 1974 generally sucks....prog is not english only... want to find great ..fresh.. prog in the late 70's... look to Spain.. who started late.. but did it with a fresh slant.. and influences.

Pfeh. Three of my top albums ever in this poll ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) ... WYWH, Godbluff and Rubycon. I've always found 74 the weak link in the chain... a sort of mixed KC album, which is a first and (f**king) Camel's only great album. I think SABB was 73, actually, but, if not, that was probably my favourite from the year.

the non - commercial albums are in order to my taste ==
-- V.D.G.G - Godbluff , -- Novalis - Novalis , -- Gentle Giant - Free Hand ,
-- Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery , -- King Crimson - U.S.A --
the Commercial albums in my opinion ( at least ) ==
-- Pink Floyd - WYWH , -- Eloy - Power & the Passion , -- Camel - the Snow Goose --
-- Kansas - Masque , -- Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn , -- Roxy Music - Siren --
the Nutral albums ==
-- P.F.M - Chocolate Kings , -- Strawbs - Ghosts , -- Gryphon - Raindance , --
-- Tangerine Dream - Rubycon , -- Mahavishnu - Visions , -- Renaissance - Sheherazade ,
-- Godbluff - VDGG will surely get my first vote , as well as Tull's - Minstrel , and Camel's -
Snow Goose //
-- WYWH - Pink Floyd , as well as Eloy's - Power in the 2 nd position //
-- Renaissance and Tangerine Dream in the third position //
---- this is the only Equation that satisfy my truth ////// as these albums are not supposed to meet in
the same poll ///// TracksToni /////

Renaissance's Scheherazade is one of my favorite albums ever, so I would have to go with Renaissance over Floyd.

Would you like some Bailey's?

Wish You Were Here for me too. Arguably Floyd's best album. The only one that is even close to it is Rubycon by Tangs, which could have been my winner in many other years.

Scandalous lack of Ommadawn votes here, seeing as how it clearly was the best album from that year.

Wow you're right that was some year. I chose Free Hand, but the Snow Goose and Minstrel in the Gallery are very close. Its as a good a year for prog as 1986 was for Thrash.

I can't believe you left out Harmonium's "Si On Avait Besoin D'Une Cinquième Saison" which is currently at 11th place in progarchives.
My vote would go for that album. Well, I'll vote for "Wish you were Here" which is winning for good reason.
