Talk to me sometime. You never know, I might not even mention it!
Sorry, but that's a f**king pathetic attitude you've got there, matey.

God, I am agreeing with TP!!!
My present companion is a vegeterian and I worked with her for a year and did not know. She never talked about it. Her reasons for being one is because she never could digest red meat properly and two it takes ten times more fresh water to get a pound of meat vs the equivelant plant value. Considering we both live in area where water is an issue (Southern California) she made a valid point and while I don't think I will ever stop eating meat I have scaled it back to three days a week.

James Lee- eating meat didn't make us smarter- it gave us time to get
smarter. Knowledge bult on knowledge over eons. Can anybody name a
herbivore with any intelligence above the level of herd beast? All
intelligent species on earth eat meat- cats, dogs, bears, dolphins,
raptors, you get the point. Don't you watch Discovery?
Take our nearest living cousins on the evolution tree, chimpanzees and
gorillas, both basically herbivores, they have been around as long as
our species. Get the picture. They are probably more intelligent than
the carnivores mentioned above (except maybe dolphins and orcas, but
that's another problem - no apendages - no , not the ones that you are
thinking of, the ones used for manipulation), but they remain
essentially unchanged. It was the combination of eating meat and
learning to cook it, that fueled our own evolution.

Maybe they can sense which ones will be the next hitler-pigs and thus get all that mess out of the way before it begins.

All we have are broad and mostly unfounded theories...I like the
'learning to cook meat gave us more time to develop other skills' one
the best; it sounds the most reasonable- and ironically, it's also the
least dependant on any biological imperative.
Anyone who claims that meat-eating animals are always smarter, however,
had better do some more zoology reading (for one thing, many 'experts'
raise serious questions about whether predators or prey have more
sophisticated and complicated responses)...and also account for the
fact that meat consumption, red meat especially, has clearly and
consistently decreased as mankind progressed.

Agriculture and horticulture were also also important factors that fueled our evolution...

I've been vegetarian my whole life, because my parents were.
My grandmother discovered that she could swap meat coupons for higher value vegetable coupons during the Second World War, because more people wanted meat coupons.
She couldn't think of a good reason to go back to eating meat after the war, so she didn't.
My aunty married the guy who designed the vegetarian 'V' logo... wonder how much time it took him to think that one up...
I don't eat meat because that's what I'm used to - but I wear leather shoes because they're better than synthetic ones.
And I couldn't give a monkey's about other people's diets, so have never lectured anyone (about the values of vegetarianism, at least ).
I'm the perfect weight for my height and really lazy about working out. But that's a vegetarian diet for you.
