That happens with one's heroes sometimes, I still think he's a brillaint player but I believe hes more of of a sideman or team player than the main composer/producer....   but I see how it was in his professional interest.

Very glad he moved back into a different production situation with Beat. All the live stuff sounds good to me. Im just pickier with my favorite musicians. For me his peak was Blue Powder but Id like to see him have a brilliant last act or 4 as he ages.

I think reshuffling the decks of already known musicians only yields so much... Miles and Zappa were both great for being a conduit to new talent. I think that ladder is somewhat missing now and is being occupied by youtube and tictok influences... but that's different than putting together something truly novel.   There are opportunities at the current moment though.

Thanks for the thoughtful contribution! One "reshuffle" that I enjoyed a GREAT deal was the recent "Celebrating David Bowie" tour, which I saw in Tucson at a lovely theater!! It had a fantastic cast, and included musicians like Adrian Belew, who had actually played with, and recorded with, Bowie!! I didn't get to see David in concert (I did see him onstage with the show "The Elephant Man," which was brilliant!) so this was a very authentic taste of what his live music would have been like!

I'm not sure if technically Komara can be considered new in the Prog world, however, they do add trumpet and flugelhorn to the guitar-bass-keyboards-drum formula and Pat Mastelotto, King Crimson drummer, is in charge of the Traps and Buttons.

Kyros, Wippy Bonstack, Geordie Greep are all tickling my ears these days.
Oh, for the wings of any bird, other than a battery hen
