Man, I honestly can't believe we're still talking about this. It's not like Journey, who actually started out playing progressive music and we're debating if that's enough for them to be here.

I agree that songs like "Foreplay/Long Time" have some progressive qualities, but where do we draw the line? Should we include KISS because "God Of Thunder" could loosely be considered prog metal, or that Music From The Elder was a concept album and could also be considered progressive. I just think we're loosening up just a bit.

Just my two cents.

Yes! KISS for PA! I totally support the idea!!!LOL

Seriously, though,  I think Eric has a very good point. However, I don't think there is any real solution to the PR problem, because the relation to Prog is even more subjective than the 'prog quotient' - as somebody else said in much better words in an earlier post. That said, either we scrap the category altogether (which is not possible, since we are not the owners of this site), or we learn to be less close-minded and more tolerant, avoiding to make every addition into a personal issue.

Just my two eurocents, of course.

I think on the previous page (before the collabs team got loose) someone stated that at least one prog related album would be a fairer benchmark than at least one prog related song.

Apart from that I like my own question Wink

Oh boy, I don't think I could belong to a forum that allows a band whose penned such sap as "Shandi", "I Was Made For Lovin' You" or "God Gave Rock And Roll To You".

Hey E.  Pack your bags.  "God Gave Rock N' Roll to You" was actually penned by Russ Ballard of Argent, a band that is already on the forum under xover prog.  WinkTongue

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

No. Size has nothing to do with it - it's all about the music.
What?

LOL I have no real Kiss knowledge either, but I am an Argent fan, and so know that band's output very well.

Rod Argent produced and performed on Nanci Griffith's Late Night Grande Hotel. Should we include her on PA? Wink

We'll end up renaming it Hard Prog in your honourLOL... Pity we rejected that band with that lovely name I won't mention here for fear of being censored!Wink

I'm afraid we're hijacking the thread big time, though the No votes are overwhelming... I don't think it is a good idea to add them to the site, but won't certainly raise a stink if they are. I only wish someone had bothered to read my words in earlier posts and perhaps taken them into consideration.

I think Xover prog is the best place for them.  I wouldn't really consider them heavy prog, although they did do a few tracks that I would consider heavy, most of their output to me fits the definition of Xover.  However, Raf is right, we have hijacked this thread big time.  LOL
