me too Two very different tracks recorded 10 years apart , Yes just before they became a full fledged prog band and Genesis as they were leaving prog behind (mostly). I love the organ on Time And A Word and combined with orchestra is superb at times. Dodo/Lurker is also a very addictive track. Can't really decide. If it was The Knife instead of Dodo/Lurker would that not make more sense in terms of comparison?

Dodo for me, though I'd rather get the full version.

Actually, I like better the version from the Lyon live album. |

But I disagree; Dodo/Lurker is my least favorite track from Abacab (though it's still okay) but I love Astral Traveller: that's a sensational track. All of Time And A Word, for that matter.

Ya' gotta' b' kiddin'. I might have liked Dodo better if the live version off Three Sides Live wasn't superior. The studio version seemed out of place among the rest of Abacab's offerings.

Micky...?? I'm going to listen to both and then vote but I had to get that out of the way first. After a listen I went with Genesis. Maybe it's because I have a weakness for ABACAB (spare the awful Whodunnit?) but it also had a little bit to do with Dodo having a more complete and 'rounded' sound than the rather raw "Astral Traveller". Admit it! If Genesis had filled that album with pseudo-epics similar in tone and pace to that track and Me 'N Sarah Jane it would probably be more well received in the prog community. After the more song-based Duke, Abacab feels like a natural evolution. Yes on the other hand, wouldn't strike their mark until the next album and the addition of Steve Howe Edited by Queen By-Tor - October 28 2014 at 00:10 |
