Two moody albums from around the turn of the millennium. One is more melancholy and hopeless while the other is more playful, but I feel like the two have many overlaps in their ambiance.
A song from each for the unfamiliar |

Interesting pair to compare. That's my 2nd favorite Yo La album, so I'm going with that.

Both bands I have heard, but haven't explored as much as I'd like.

I don't know YLT, but it is hard to beat Gira's brilliance - regardless of the title he is working under.
No work, even though that has to be one of the better AOL albums.

From "The Crying of Lot G" by YLT. A beautiful tune made all the more poignant by the knowledge that the core of the band is a married couple. Happy in their marriage but even happy marriages have their rough spots. Gee, I don't know that that's true. then I wonder, am I right? or is that part of our problem? Maybe I'm out of my mind. Maybe I'm blocking out the truth. But it seems like just a little thing, like you don't want to listen, and I can't shut up. You don't have to smile at me. we don't have to talk. all that I ask is you stop, and remember, it isn't always this way. Edited by HolyMoly - November 14 2014 at 17:26 |
