Hello everyone, please kindly check out these guys, they have just released the 2nd studio album: (Was surpired to find they don´t seem to be mentioned here before) Crimson Blue are a band based in Russia whose music varies from melodic keyboard-centered rock to prog metal. Their inspiration comes from a wide blend of sounding - from Yes to Meshuggah, from Tool to The Angelic Process.
Here are some glimpses from the band's bio: The metal band Crimson Blue, originally from Russia, has something to offer the audience besides clear soprano and heavy riffs which one would expect from a female-fronted band. That is, firstly, their style varying from complex prog song structures inherited from the 70s’ art rock to nu-metal-like catchy chords, with a blend of extremely low bass frequencies with keyboards sounding at times as icy and distant as a human-produced sound may get and suddenly turning into an intimate and sincere confession. One more hallmark of Crimson Blue music is their lyrics based both on personal image of the world and philosophical discourses together with 20th century sci-fi. The concept of the band was born in the depth of 2008 within dark dungeons of nameless rehearsal studios and even darker minds of the musicians. It all started from their passion for 70's art and progressive rock. In the moment the band realised that the guitars were tuned a whole octave lower and there was also a female vocalist with a keytar, they headed for the local clubs and tagged their musical style 'Nu Art Metal', consolidating the newly-acquired modern influence and complex musical ways of art rock. Their first full time album Innocence was released in 2012 on Irond, since then the band has been spotted performing on one stage with Pain of Salvation, Tarja Turunen, Kypck and Deathstars. In the short periods between gigs and contemplation upon eternal questions they still had enough time to record their second studio album which was released at My Kingdom Music, Italia, on November, 17 th ,2014. The album called The Angelic Performance is a conceptual work that delivers listeners ten stories about seeking, insanity and salvation and is based on some images from the poetry of T.S. Eliot. Compared to theit first album “Innocence” (2012), The Angelic Performance presents more maturity in terms of composition and arrangements as well as lyrics. Hello and welcome to PA
I don't see why you are surprised not to find them here, since their main influences (according to them) are primarily non-prog bands (Lacuna Coil, A Perfect Circle, Nightwish) and they describe themselves as "Gothic Art Metal" (which can mean a lot of things). Artistic indeed they are, but prog I am not sure, but definitely interesting (more than Lacuna Coil!). We will check them, thanks for the suggestion |

Thanks for commenting aapatsos!
Speaking frankly, I personally find this comparison weird... Well, at least they are female-fronted, except for APC, of course When I first listened to them, Madder Mortem came to my mind.

Hi Smurph, thanks for contributing! What style applies to them most in your view?
Interesting about Enditol, gonna check them, I think.

Many thanks for videos Svetonio! Great to know they appealed to the audience!
aapatsos, Thanks for your attention to them! What subgenre though? I suggested Prog Metal, but then thought maybe Prog-Related - or is it for those artists who are already a name but in another genre?..

This is definitely metal for a start, so to the PM team it goes. They would need sponsoring from a special collaborator to go to Prog-Related and I don't see this ever happening, realistically.

A week is generally too short to reach a conclusion (because we have many on our list to evaluate) but Crimson Blue were rejected with 3 straight No's, sorry. Rightly, in my opinion.

I mean I like their music but it just isn't quite strange enough or "out there" enough to be considered prog. They definitely have a deeper understanding of music than your normal heavy metal/rock band but I don't see them being considered prog.
