Been ages since I heard that one. Let's have a listen before voting...

I went with the crowd, although I love every second of the album - the title track having blossomed into this beautiful trip I undertake with every spin....and I used to hate it.

Great, very underrated album, though definitely a more demanding listen than either LTiA or Red. Never been a big fan of "The Night Watch", but in my book "The Great Deceiver" ranks as one of the strongest album openers ever, and possibly Wetton's best performance as a vocalist.

Hmmmm. Used to hate it. That could be Fripp's take on Guns 'n Roses 'Used to love her' - although the lyrics on that one are pretty gloomy already.

The Night Watch is the only KC track after ITCOTCK I really like, and that is mainly because of the wonderful lyrics and my love of Rembrandt's painting.

I know how you feel. A lot of it just felt like a mess and aimless improvising for the first few listens. Took me a couple years to re-listen and be floored.

Just reading the song titles makes me feel strangely proud that I own this. It's a classic album like many other classics that i've seemed to have neglected in my endless pursuit to hear new(to me) Prog.Unhappy

The same can be said for me with Providence, from Red.

i think you are misunderstanding this; THIS Starless and Bible Black is WAY different from the Starless and Bible Black that you are thinking of. wait, was that a joke/sarcasm?

This album does not get much love but I still consider it to be the most exhilarating KC album. It has one of the finest album openers ever, a masterful BB drum entrance on the widely misunderstood "We'll let you know", some Frippisms that are outworldly etc... Just a phenomenal album that requires patience (just like a hospital)Shocked
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I love every song on this album. I have to give it to The Night Watch with Fracture as second place.
