I just found a new project to my ears, and that was/is to embrace jazz/funky english bands, from the wierdest to the funkiest. After listening to Level 42s debute, it made me think of Jamiroquai, ofcourse there is the Canterbury scene who embraced jazz as one major part of their sound-pallet, and plenty other prog and fusion bands (Colloseum, Mahavishnu), where jazz and funk is a major part, Free Hand and Interview by Gentle Giant has that spunky and head bumpng sharpness, Nik Kershaws two first albums are full of this music im talking about, sharp, in you face, up-fron direct, not afraid to show colour, also even the first U.K debute has that loose, yet sharp, in-your-face, directness.
Is there a spiritual kinship / relation from Rock Bottom to Jamiroquai, from John McLaughlin to Roland Orzabel, from Colloseum to Level 42 and back
.
I just want to talk music, on both superficial manner and in deep-genre-bumping debates, casue funk and jazz are palls, and we are palls, and we need som freek out fun.
