Erpland is their best album imo and a wonderful place to start. It very aptly conveys all the different facets there is to this band - and very successfully to boot.

And it kinda stops there. When Jon left, the whole thing was over. Today it is nothing but a family affair and it is not very good, or even interesting and is missing the "sensual" side that those three albums so well portrayed.

All 3 are excellent though my friend Tom, a self described Ozric fanatic, likes Hidden Step the best.
Yes, ALL those are excellent (my first was Strangeitude WAY back when...yikes!), and to this lot I'd like to add Arborescence, which was their last great album, IMO, before they took a step back with Become The Other.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, BUT they have really turned out some great albums in the last 15 years, like The Hidden Step, The Yum Yum Tree and Paper Monkeys, which was a big surprise.
And hey, you don't like Arborescence or what? To the back of the line!

ERPLAND without question. My first Ozric entrance was Curious Corn in 1997. I never looked back. Can't really go wrong with any of the 90's albums. There are gems amongst the earlier material from the 80's which shouldn't be overlooked either.

I find the post-2000 albums rely heavily on programmed beats and electronica, still have some awesome tracks peppered throughout them. On the recent(ish) Paper Monkeys, some tracks hint at the classic 90's material more so than their last few releases before it (IMO). Tough call here, but quite possibly my absolute fave track from OT would have to be Tidal Convergence (from Erpland). Strangeitude is not to be missed by any means -White Rhino Tea is just outrageous.

Cheers, folks ! Started giving Erpland and YumYum a listen... interesting stuff !!! I'm not hooked at the moment, but there are some pretty good moments. I'll carry on with it, I don't honestly expect to get prog albums on the first take. But all good so far. ;-)
This might make more sense to UK viewers, but a kind of "Prog family tree" a la Pete Frame (shows age) might be helpful.......

Exactly this!
I have everything up until the last 2 albums ... when the band has really lost it for me. Nothing against Brandy, but all she is doing is providing backup for Ed and not helping take the music somewhere else. Ed needs someone to go against the grain, not with the grain!
