I loved the Pixies at first (Doolittle was a favorite amongst the underground) but more often than not now I find them irritating. I still listen to the Trompe Le Monde album a bit. the Police were my favorite band during their heyday, and their music still holds up. Even the overplayed hits still have the ability to impress. Copeland and Summers really made them unique sounding, and Sting built a solid foundation for them to add their colors. My is for the Police.

^I agree that The Police were very good Steve, it's just that I still feel over saturated by them as they seemed to have be everywhere in the eighties. Kind of like U2.

True. I still sometimes change the station if a Police song comes on the radio (and I've never been too fond of De Doo Doo Doo, De Da Da Da... ughhh).

A lot of people would tell you how Surfer Rosa got them through their teen years, and it is spectacular. But it is Synchronicity that got me through my middle school years, so nostalgia bump for Old Bill.

The Police all the way! I still put on the car radio when a Police track comes by (except for "Every Breath You Take" which is one of their most played but most boring songs).

The Police were excellent musicians, but for me they always promised more than they delivered (Synchronicity is a damn fine album, though). The Pixies were more original musically and lyrically, and I will always prefer them to The Police because of Monkey Gone To Heaven. And Debaser. Oh, and Wave of Mutilation. Here Comes Your Man as well. And so on.
