Time to complete the roster of 1974 top prog albums. How do you feel about Mirage from Camel?

For many years I cited this as my favorite album of all time. Other stuff has since taken its place but it's my favorite Camel album anyway. Not a weak spot to be found - 5 classic songs.

On another thread I listed my top five Camel albums which happened to be their first five releases.
Mirage came in a very close second to Moonmadness.
Who knows, if I listened to both of them this afternoon those two might be reversed.

A great album, but not my favourite Camel. The Snow Goose and Moonmadness are better to me.

Definitely my fave Camel album (and the 1st one I bought).  No other Camel album I bought after ever measured up to this one.  Nimrodel is a perfect track.

I have it tied with Moonmadness. Two beautiful gems.

While Mirage is undoubtedly a good album, I find Camel's debut more appealing.

My 2nd favorite by them, only toped by Harbour Of Tears.
Lady Fantasy is a f**king great song, one of their bests, I think only For Today is better than this track.

Love Camel, love this album, best song from the entire Camel ouvre that I own, SUPERTWISTER. The tranquil mid-section with Latimer's flute is just Heaven. Quite Canterburian, too.

My favourite album from them, mainly because of Lady Fantasy and The White Rider. The rest of the album is very similar in my apreciation to Moonmadness (which is very good).

Even if Mirage is not my favorite album of Camel, I think that Lady Fantasy is their best song.

I don't love it anywhere near as much as many people here do. It's a good album and Freefall is excellent. I guess I prefer Moonmadness a bit over Mirage.

My least fave camel album of the first 8 albums. Lady fantasy is a bit boring
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

It has a very nice lush feel a bit like a comfy sofa. Nothing wrong with it that's for sure. If you want rough edges look elsewhere!

Good, yes, but a dress rehearsal for Moonmadness.
