The Neal Morse Band's new album is scheduled for release on February 10th.

Radiant Records sent an advance copy of the new Neal Morse Band albums "The Grand Experiment" (due for official release on February 10th, 2015).  This music boasts a fresh new vitality that I haven't heard from the band in years.

I got a chance last week to speak with Neal about the process by which he and the band went about creating their most collaborative effort to date.  Hear excerpts from "The Grand Experiment" along with the ProgPositivity interview here:

In the past, Morse typically has waited until he had 90% (or more) of an album’s material pre-composed before getting a band together to begin recording. For his upcoming 2015 album, however, he invited drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Randy George, keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette to come to the studio prepared to contribute integrally to the songwriting process.  The experiment was a grand success, resulting in a reinvigoration of the band’s signature sound (which, by the way, still retains all the soaring melodies, catchy hooks, and sterling instrumental performances you have grown to expect from The Neal Morse Band).

Positively the best Prog and Fusion 24/7!

Looking forward to it.  Hopefully with more input from the others, they will come up with a different direction than the past albums (even though I like those).
