Topic: Best Pink Floyd's members album Posted: February 18 2015 at 10:07 |
Choose the best solo album made by the members of Pink Floyd.
I choose Wet Dream, it's a masterpiece and is even better than a lot of Floyd stuff.
this, kids, is why you have to check the topic before posting it, it became a total crap, now i had to remove the colaboration albuns to give place to the missed albums. my bad :c

No Madcap, Barrett, or Gilmour's s/t? All of those would've been my choices but I'll give it to On An Island. You also have Wet Dream twice.

I'll go with Dave's About Face album. A heavily commercial album, but in a good way. It could have and should have been a bigger hit - its failure to sell was probably the biggest factor in Dave going back to doing Floyd albums. Which I consider unfortunate. He does nice solo albums - I think all three of them are fine.
If "Barrett" had been on there, I would probably have voted for it. That album always gets under my skin. There's something so distant about it, as if Barrett is on another planet already.
Roger's solo stuff never really connected with me, even though he was always the #1 key ingredient to the PF band, in my opinion. The concepts are cool but the music is monotonous. Even sadder is the realization that Roger probably doesn't even think that's a minus. Interesting music would just distract us from his genius stories. Well hurrah.
I will give honorable mention to Music From the Body, though. That's a pretty cool album - albeit about 90% Ron Geesin to 10% Roger Waters.
Rick's solo stuff is fairly new to me and I want to revisit it. I always loved his composing in the early years of the Floyd band. But my first impression of Wet Dream was not good. Maybe next time.

I wish there was some way to get back my vote and give it to Madcap.

Seeing that Madcap is now on the list, that's where my vote goes.

Barrett is on there, just misspelled. In any event, Syd is the only member who's solo work I've taken interest in, mainly because his material is the easiest to find.

Well I'll be darned. He added the Syd albums after I posted. Oh well.

Definitely Gilmour's About Face. I appreciate that he made a successful attempt to make this solo album without too many direct Floyd references. Besides, I still say the song "Murder" is the best post-Wall composition from any member of Floyd, with or without the band. As far as The Madcap Laughs, I end up feeling dreadfully sorry for Barrett every time I hear it. It's like gawking at a car crash.

I haven't heard or seen a Gilmour solo album since the first one. I'll have to track the others down on ebay I suppose
