For such an eclectic composer one could make such a bunch of different lists of "best songs" from him that would fit for any taste. Anyway, here just some of my loved ones:

Like an Arrow in a clear lead so far, quite surprising to be honest. Good song though.

Voted for just songs I like which are mostly the obvious ones plus Wind ,Sand and Stars and Rebecca. Surprised though that some tracks like Clocks are struggling and also why don't people like The Air Conditioned Nightmare??!

The whole Voyage of the Acolyte is excellent....beyond that I have mixed feelings about most of his songs.

I voted thumbs up on:
The Steppes Shadow of the Hierophant Like an Arrow Rebecca Ace of Wands Sierra Quemada Hammer in the Sand Valley of the Kings Wind, Sand and Stars Howl India Rubber Man Two Faces of Cairo The Serpentine Song Ballad of the Decomposing Man ... A bunch of others too, but I accidentally closed the window. Hope it took my votes. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to log in or anything. Edited by HackettFan - February 28 2015 at 20:23 |

I think some lists allow you to rank when logged out but some don't.

To be honest, no surprise for me with regards to the 'Best Songs' list, I already knew I am the only one here who have especial love for the Hackett's classical albums and have them as favourites, especially A Midsummer Night's Dream and Metamorpheus. The latter got a definitive place number 12 in the 'Best Albums' list, but this though might be surprising only here.

No, unfortunately I don't have it, right on it's very beautiful. I sometimes listened to it on Youtube and UOL, my faves really are Gymnopedie No 1, 2 and 3, and Pieces Froides No.1 (Danse de travers II). Erik Satie was a great composer indeed, I'd like to listen to the recordings of these compositions played by him on piano, they must be indeed stunning. He was one of the main precursors (if not the main precursor) of minimalism, and afterwards serialism, both developed and oftenly found in the modern and contemporanean classical music. But to be honest I'm not such a fan of this music specifically, it can't have a great appeal on me unfortunately, perhaps the reason why I don't put Sketches Of Satie in the same league as A Midsummer Night's Dream and Metamorpheus. |
