feeling partly responsible for trashing Stewart's similar Poll on British Proto-Prog I have decided to make reparation by starting a similar Poll for American bands that are listed here under that classification.
Please note that there are 8 bands from other countries listed in Proto-Prog. And for all the numerists out there and for those who mistakenly believe that PR here is anglocentric - there are 18 British PR bands and 16 American PR bands represented under Proto-Prog.

I have omitted Hendrix, not because I think the JHE would run away with the voting (I'm not sure that they would) but because I maintain that regardless of Hendrix's nationality, the JHE was only 1/3rd American. Sorry about that.

As with Stewart's poll, this is not asking which is best, first or most important - it is asking which band you prefer.
