Brann Dailor (of Mastodon)
Never a dull moment and unpredictable. I'm always focused on what he's doing in any Mastodon song.

Dave Murray from Estradasphere and most importantly Sculptured.

Sculptured's Embodiment contains some of the greatest metal drumming I've ever heard.

Also, Hannes Grossmann keeps blowing me away. Alkaloid's new album is seriously top notch dudes.

There is no way I can realistically narrow it down to less than 5 (and that's forcing it still, I could easily make a very strong list of 10), especially since ALL metal is included, prog and non prog

So I'm going with gut here/personal nostalgia and not a debate about skill and etc

Martin Lopez of Opeth. Tomas Corn of Lykathea Aflame (that was truly mindblowing stuff) and Jason Rullo of Symphony X. Sorry....I had to go with 3LOL

Keith Abrahms from Kayo Dot :O my favorite drummer in general. Nothing reaches his ridiculous sense of rhythm.

Also Greg Fox is a pretty close second.

And whoever drums for Deathspell Omega.

Abaddon (Venom).

'Twas the "troll post" of the week.
Strangely, I can't think of one drummer in particular. Gene Hoglan? Dave Lombardo (especially since he left Slayer to try other genres of music)? Ken Owen (when he was valid, of course)?

Also, I should maybe check the names of newer drummers...

another drummer that blew my mind recently is Gojira's drummer - Mario Duplantier.

There are a lot of metal drummers I like, but the older I get, the more names I forget LOL
I'll make a brief research of names and get back to this thread. Big smile

I don't listen to much metal but Nicko always impresses me so I'll give him a shout out.
