I wonder if the TTIP will have any bearing on this. The trade deal allows corporations to sue governments if they compromise their ability to make a profit. I wonder if that right extends to other private companies too.

Personally I think we should have the option to ignore annoying ads if we want to. That's why we record a lot of TV programs - so we can fast forward through the DFS 50% off adverts.

Ads are a pet hate of mine, especially TV adds. I switch channel or mute sound when ads come on. It drives people nuts when they're watching TV with me. No one I know seems to mind them...

I do the same on the rare occasion that I watch TV. My mother can't stand it, saying that the lack of background noise is unbearable. I guess that's what happens when you spend the last 15 years of your life with the TV on. |

I've been using ABPlus on my computers for years, and I also mute commercials on TV. My wife hates it if she's eating something and can hear herself chewing and crunching.

The creators of new technologies will always be one if not more steps ahead of those seeking to regulate or squash them. It's the same with torrenting. The people who want to regulate almost always don't understand it and their expert opinions are insiders of the industries that would benefit by having the new techs regulated. Funny that the inefficiency of a bureaucracy is a good thing in this instance.

my GF zaps away as soon as adds come on, but then again it happens that she forgets to zap back to the channel she was watching, therefore missing a few minutes of the program she was viewing |

I use Privoxy for that. Works systemwide and supposedly takes less resources.
