by the way: I don't think John Wetton could be called a frontman. singer is not the equivalent of frontman
I considered him carefully....he was much more than a singer/bass player with LTIA (I saw them in Chicago on 20 April, 1973) and was very physical onstage. Same for UK.
During Asia, I observed that he seemed to be emulating Peter Cetera of Chicago a bit....singing hunk bassist! It was very effective actually, based on his Facebook following.
However, I voted for Gabriel in this one. Gabriel was the master showman IMHO. Ian Anderson is a close second.
We could open this up and include David Byron of Uriah Heep, who was another master showman (sadly, I never saw him live).

Peter Gabriel---classic Genesis but he was great as a solo artist too. But also Jon Anderson which is why he's not replaceable. He embodies the spacey spiritualism of Yes.

Ian Anderson obviously. He was definitely an original and HIGHLY entertaining. Gabriel as a frontman...and the band were so boring (perhaps they should have got their damn guitarist out of a f**king chair hahah) he had to steal the notions of doing theatrics and makeup and costumes from Osanna. Tsk tsk.. but I'll give him some credit If you are going to steal to try to save your career from getting deep sixed... .steal from the best at least.
