Two beautiful songs from lesser known, but still worthy bands, vote for the one you like best

Renessance is not a lesser known band probably and proudly among the top 8 prog bands along with King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmers, Pink Floyd, Gentle Giant and Renessance, i would probably put Renessance above, both Camel, Gentle Gaint in terms of fame and position in prog and also as one of the two famous offsprings of the Yardbirds, the other being the lesser known act Led Zeppelin. Cool,  Gryphon on the other hand is pretty obscure and exotic! Gryphon to me is the Ying to and Univerz Zero the Yang in chamber music inspired rock.

Just listened to Red Queen to Gryphon Three on Sunday while driving my son back to his place for his final exam today. I find Spring Song a little more on the Symphonic side which is what I really like so Gryphon gets my vote.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

Ashes are Burning, a true classic.

Spring Song. Brilliant track from an otherwise pretty mediocre album.

And neither Renaissance nor Gryphon were obscure at all. Both had major exposure. Gryphon are still the only band to be played on Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the same week and Renaissance were on Top of the Pops!

Incidentally, Gryphon are touring this May - see their website.

Easy - Renaissance for me.  Try as I might I could never get into Gryphon, which on paper seemed like the perfect band for me

I have to say that Spring Song is the best from Treason (my least listened to Gryphon LP), so Ashes is the 'better' track for me.
Sometimes I do feel that Treason is overlooked within the Gryphon discography. It's very good overall, but is missing an element of 'magic' their previous albums contain.
Renaissance on the other hand, heck, I dig Time Line a lot, and any album before that is superior, so there you go.
Even the first 2 Annie-less albums are a bit special to me.
There's no doubt that Ashes was going to take the cake in this poll.

Might have backed Spring Song against the much celebrated Scheherazade or Mother Russia (which I am personally not overly fond of).  But Ashes are Burning is probably my favourite track of theirs or at least one of them along side Trip to the fair and Touching Once.
