Howdy.

What are everyone's favorite albums that you play to relax, fill up space, and such?

My number one would be Mogwai's Hawk is Howling.
Perfect mellow post-rock.

I... really don't own a lot of relaxing stuff. Ermm

But I love the hell out of Devin Townsend's and Che Aimee Dorval's Casualties of Cool.

If we are taking the "chill" criterion seriously without including irrelevant choices, ...

Horizons, this might be an ideal album for you:

https://projektrecords.bandcamp.com/album/aftermath

It's an ambient/drone album, but very much based around Post-flavoured guitar. Described as `built upon layering shimmers of guitar and bass-generated tones and drones, the album’s core seems inspired by post-rock, drone ambient and the work of Fripp & Eno.'

You can currently stream the entire album on that page, perhaps start with the second track `The Search for Normality', I think you'll definitely pick the Post elements in that one.

It's a really good album, I bought it myself.

Pardon me for asking but did you post this under the wrong thread?LOL

The only one I can see as a chill-out experience might be Wind & Wuthering.

From the top of my head (I know I'm forgetting a lot):

Tangerine Dream - Ricochet
Klaus Schulze - Picture Music
Perry Leopold - Christian Lucifer
Manuel Göttsching - E-2 E-4
Yatha Sidhra - A Meditation Mass
Franco Leprino - Integrati...Disintegrati
Il Paese dei Balocchi - s/t
Popol Vuh - pick any album between Hosianna Mantra and Aguirre
Cocteau Twins - Victorialand
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission
Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick (sometimes - it isn't every time it works)
Haruomi Hosono - Cochin Moon

Oh and I saw you mentioned Mogwai, Austin. I'm really digging their most recent 'Rave Tapes' and find it extremely relaxing to put on....without sounding sedate. Maybe it's the electronics in play - I'm not entirely sure.

Good call on KS's `Picture Music', Dave, I'll take that and raise you a:

Daevid Allen/Microcosmic - Sacred Geometry (especially the first volume)
Adelbert von Deyen - Nordborg
Ashra - New Age of Earth
Steve Roach - The Delicate Forever
Alpha Wave Movement - Architexture of Silence
Altus - The Time Collection

Anything by ISHQ seems to be working a treat these days as well, especially `Autumn Light', I was lucky to get one of the long since sold out CD's, but digital can still be snapped up: https://ishq.bandcamp.com/album/autumn-light

I'm sure I missed several recommendations, but those ones instantly came to mind!

^Hah yeah I thought about listing some 50+ electronic albums but decided not to. It'd end up a little one-sidedLOL

Not sure I would call it to be one to chill out to. I find a great deal of intensity on that one. Sometimes I just get up and play air drums, air guitar, and air harmonica when I listen to "Desire".
