Stoner Rock is people TRYING to be Black Sabbath in their first four album.

I like the sound of the bands, but they forget to improve themselves, with another range of instruments and sounds ans stuff.

One band that managed to do it: Blood Ceremony - its stoner, has flute, violon, acoustic songs, etc etc etc...

There are still paths to discover in the Stoner genre, but few artists have done anything than the usual.

Exactly what I think for nearly 20 years (and I'm not sure serious rock and metal critics will all disagree).

Fun fact: in an interview for the French magazine Noise published last year, French band Mars Red Sky dismissed the "stoner rock" label to describe their music and prefered to call themselves a "psychedelic heavy-rock band".

Cynic isn't stoner rock.
I take it that you don't party much.

Sludgey bass and muffled drums. I don't really have much in the way of Stoner, but I think the Architectural Metaphor album I have fits the bill quite nicely.

A full blown rhythm section is a must, add two guitars doing power chords and fills.
Then add a vocalist with a killer set of pipes and an attitude that can keep up with the band I just described.

That describes Kyuss.

Uh...this is where it all started....well, not exactly... but they pioneered it for the most part.
