I was listening to the amazingly powerful, emotional, Posthumous Silence by Sylvan recently and noticed that I hadn’t seen a “Favorite Concept Album” thread for a while and, while I love Days of Future Passed, Tommy, MDK, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Animals, and The Wall, I thought I’d ask for you to list your favorite concept albums from the 21st Century. I thought it appropriate to include only albums that truly tell a cohesive story, start to finish. And, sorry, no instrumental albums.

My list would include:

Interior City - THE GABRIEL CONSTRUCT

Odyssey:  The Greatest Tale

The Dream of the Magic Jongleur - THE PSYCHEDELIC ENSEMBLE

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - THE FLAMING LIPS

Posthumous Silence - SYLVAN

Suiciety - METHEXIS

Infernal Machina - JANNICK TOP

The Death-Defying Unicorn - MOTORPSYCHO

Ziltoid the Omniscient - DEVIN TOWNSEND

In hoc signo - INGRANAGGI DELLA VALLE

The Sunstone - THE PSYCHEDELIC ENSEMBLE

The Theory of Everything - AYREON

Off the top of my head (though of course there are many more that deserve a mention):

Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon/Number 7/Snowtorch
October Equus - Permafrost
3RDEgree - The Long Division (not a "true" concept as in having a storyline, but the songs definitely have a common theme)
Thinking Plague - Decline and Fall (same as above)
Guapo - History of the Visitation
miRthkon - Vehicle
Shadow Circus - On a Dark and Stormy Night

Mine remains "Perilous" by Glass Hammer, featuring John Davison on vocals.  A very fine effort indeed, I don't see it discussed much on PA.

Really unique experience.
Doesn't come off cheesy even though the intent is obvious. The atmosphere is so well constructed it just works.
Love the vocals too.

Is Snow considered a concept album?

Cause that one is pretty good.

I'll be very honest and say that the only concept album I truly heard was Steven Wilson' Hand.Cannot.Erase.

What album was inspired by Stephen King back there? Or I get that wrong?

Hospice has become quite a favorite in the family since you turned me on to it. It hasn't left the car since I got it. My 16-year old LOVES it and wants more music like it (She loves Arcade Fire but not Radiohead.) My wife and I love the story and lyrics. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Agreed, but I don't like it. Not to my personal tastes. Not sure why . . .

I think it is but I never could get into it. To each his own! Thanks for sharing!
