True, this is what often causes bands to be pingpong'd between the teams. To me at a first glance this sounds more jazz than avant but it's avant enough. I will listen to the whole album before voting.

Ah, the No Wave stuff has to be mentioned in PA, but I feel the same kind of problems than with industrial music: not really rock, not really jazz, not really avant-garde, but all these styles in the same moment!

I remember this band from the Eighties, though I am not sure I remember having actually heard any of their music. Anyway, I'll gladly take them to the ZART for evaluation.

James Chance was a new york saxophonist (multi-instrumentist, actually) very important to the underground no-wave and punk-jazz scene. Reviewing his compositions are very complicated. Maybe it deserves some exclusive attention. around here. In technical terms it is very prog, using and passing through different textures and melodies and musical modes, using even dodecaphonism here and there, complex as hell. But the songs aren't lenghty or anything. I'll leave their most successful album below. Enjoy.
