This may have been done before and, if so, I apologize.  I'm curious as to people's top 10 favorite songs from the classic prog era (say, 68-79), with the condition that you can't repeat artists.  In other words, top 10 songs---either epics or shorter songs---by different artists.  In my case, I wanted to put both CTTE and Gates of Delerium in there, but restricted myself to one Yes entry.

There are a lot of great post-70's prog bands (Flower Kings, Marillion, Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, etc.), but I'm curious about the classic period artists right now.

I worked up my top 10 groups, then their best albums, then my favorite songs off those albums.  Anyway, my list would be:

1. Close to the Edge-Yes
2. Karn Evil 9 -ELP
3. Supper's Ready -Genesis
4. Echoes- Pink Floyd
5. In the Court of the Crimson King -King Crimson
6. Thick As A Brick -Jethro Tull
7. 2112 -Rush
8. In The Dead of Night -U.K.
9. Journey from Mariabronn -Kansas
10. Legend of A Mind -Moody Blues

I did this list off the top of my head and I'm sure I'm missing some great ones...Feel free to chime in...

thank you my friend.  I thought it was pretty awesome myself.

made another Battiato convert today as a matter of fact.  I was ripping out a electrical panel in investment office today and this ..rather attractive 20 something lady asked me what I was listening to.. she said she had been listening..   intoxicating was her word to describe it.  I said.. 'darlin' that is the best album of the 1970's you have never heard of...' LOL  She made me write down the artist and album title.  Naturally it was Sequenze e Frequenze playing.  I have it perminantly on my phone and whip it out when stressed...  it just calms like.. like a joint.. only it won't get you fired.. LOL

yeah Thumbs Up  Sobriety sucks doesn't it! LOL

Though if Dungen makes it here to the states... dude... I might just have to break my 19 year pot sobriety. Then again... that might be dangerous.. I might end up on stage and in Fiske's arms and proposing to him...  minus some of my clothing of course.
